This was a two week tour which began with a flight to Orlando in Florida. Choosing Orlando as your start and finish point allows you to keep the trans-Atlantic air fare down to a minimum and adds only a few hundred extra miles to the tour.
Our route took us north along the coasts of Georgia, South Carolina and as far as Wilmington in North Carolina. For the return route you can either stay with the coast roads or deviate inland. We chose to remain with the coast route.
The places you should definitely include in your tour are:-
GEORGIA
Brunswick and the Golden Isles,
Savannah ( take a trolley tour here )
SOUTH CAROLINA
Hilton Head Island, Charleston, and Beaufort.
Myrtle Beach ( visit the "Legends" theatre and Broadway at the Beach )
NORTH CAROLINA.
Wilmington, ( visit the battleship "North Carolina" here.)
Carolina Beach. ( try Bed and Breakfast at "The Beacon Inn" )
ADDITIONAL STOP-OVER
As you will be travelling through the north of Florida it is recommended, if you have not already been there, to call in on your return journey at St Augustine and Daytona Beach. St Augustine is a beautiful place and you should not miss the experience of either taking your own vehicle on Daytona Beach or watching other "posers" driving theirs.
