BEATRICE (BEATIE) JACKSON ( Nee Bottomley)

Beatie was born on 15th March 1918

and died on 28th September 1995, aged 78.

Beatie lived originally at 33 Annesley Road, Greenhill, Sheffield.

Her father was William Henry Bottomley whose occupation was a Blacksmith's Striker.

She is on the right here, next to my Aunt Elsie McLean.

She married Herbert Jackson on November 16th 1940- she was 22 he was 30.

They set up house here at 57 The Greenway, Greenhill and lived there the whole of their married life.

Her working life was in laundering; when she retired she was Laundering Manager at a Sheffield hospital.

After the death of her husband she lived alone at The Greenway for 28 years. In September  1996 Beatie was admitted to the Royal Hallamshire Hospital suffering from thrombosis. She had previously had surgery for a Chronic duodenal ulcer.

My wife, Jackie and daughter, Hayley went to the hospital on 28th of September to see her just before she was due to be discharged. When they arrived they were asked to wait outside the ward. A little later a nurse came  and told them that Beatie had just  died!.
